1st Annual Boomers Expo
April 29 - 30, 2006
Oregon Convention Center Hall C
777 NE. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
Portland, Oregon 97232
Every 7.9 seconds, someone in the U.S. is turning 50. That means that by 2014, the Baby Boomers generation reaching that age will be 78 million strong. As a trend-setting group, they are literally reinventing the concept of aging in America. They continue to write the book on how they plan to live their lives after 50. Along the way, they’ll need good resources. The first annual Boomers Expo is both a celebration of the mid-life years and a time to plan well for what’s ahead.
Considered a “Resource Mall” for Baby Boomers (in their 40s – 60s), the expo is designed to help many through their life transitions: a mid-life crisis, empty nest, retirement/rehirement, dating again, grandparenting, downsizing, caregiving, spiritual awakening, leaving a legacy, and widowhood. Many exhibitors from various industries are represented to showcase their unique products and services.
One of this year’s keynote speakers for Saturday is Stephen Cherniske M.Sc., a world renowned scientist in the field of Healthy Aging and is the best-selling author of “The Metabolic Plan.” His talk is sponsored by OASIS LifeSciences and is called “Healthy Aging & Nutritional Science Made Simple – 5 Things You Absolutely Must Know!”
The second keynote speaker for Sunday's event is Deborah Nedelman, co-author of "Still Sexy After All These Years: The 9 Unspoken Truths About Women's Desires Over 50." Her talk proposes to dismantle the negative sterotypes about women's sexuality and reveals for the first time, the secrets of what women want (and don't want) regarding sex.
A host of other excellent speakers will be educating from 4 different stages. Many attending will want to enter for the door prizes. As for entertainment, we’ll have Zaina Hart’s Belly Dancing Workshop, a “hot” Latin fashion show by Moda Nova, a fitness presentation by Nia Technique, and more.
